How To Clean Up Your Music Library
Evening All,
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. It has been a hectic 2 weeks with the app and some personal issues. But I am BACK. And I am going to start giving out some free tips to help you with your music library.
How many of you use the Play Count feature in your DJ Software?
I came across a DJ the other day that has 103,000 tracks in his music library. Yes ONE HUNDRED AND THREE THOUSAND Tracks. I literally couldn’t believe my eyes when I was in the zoom meeting with him. Anyways when I was in this meeting he was asking me whats the best way to start cleaning this up. And I literally had no idea myself. But after thinking for a while I thought, how many of these tracks does he ACTUALLY play.
So I got him to create two smart crates. One with all the tracks with Over 1 play count and another with tracks with no play count.
He had just over 3000 Tracks with 1+ Play count
and about 99000 with 0 Play count.
So I said to him, take that 3000, move that to a seperate hard drive for now and call that folder PLAYS, then move the other 99000 to the same hard drive and name is UNPLAYED.
After that I told him to Delete everything from his laptop and then move the 3000 tracks that he played. NOW he has a fresh music library of tracks he has already played.
Over time he can slowly start to move some of the unplayed tracks back onto his laptop but in a controlled manor. This way he will not have the issue of having too many tracks again.
DJs i want you to create a new smart crate after this. One with 0 Plays and ask yourself. Do you actually need those tracks on your computer?
